The Croatian minister and the US Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs met on the margins of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly.
Dobriansky presented a proposal for the United States and Croatia to devise and implement programs to strengthen democracy in Southeast European countries, which Grabar-Kitarovic accepted.
The US official stressed that her country appreciated Croatia's contribution to the activities of the Community of Democracies, a movement promoting global democracy, and the UN Democracy Fund, a newly established voluntary fund assisting countries in the strengthening of democratic institutions.
