We admire Mrs. Karadzic's courage to urge doing what is right and necessary, both for the Karadzic family and all people in Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro and the entire Balkans, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters.
In an emotional public appeal to her husband on Thursday, Ljiljana Karadzic begged her husband to surrender to the Hague tribunal for the sake of his family.
McCormack called on politicians in the region to support and repeat the appeal and on Radovan Karadzic to do what he had been asked to do.
We also call on Ratko Mladic and Ante Gotovina to do the same, McCormack added.
