RIJEKA, July 5 (Hina) - Representatives of the World Bank's Zagreb
office on Monday visited the Rijeka Port Authority after which they gave a
very positive assessment of activities related to the Rijeka Gateway project,
the port authority in the northern Adriatic city said in a press release on
Tuesday. The project is aimed at modernising Croatia's biggest
seaport.
World Bank representatives were briefed about the realisation of the
project so far, including the completion of project-related documents and the
preparation of documents to obtain construction permits. The permits have
already been requested from the competent ministry and the answer is expected
to be positive.
The press release also said the Rijeka port turnover in this year's
first six months was 5.88 million tonnes of cargo, an increase of 12 per cent
from 2004.
