The Brown Forum, being held in tribute to US Secretary of Commerce Ronald H. Brown who died in a plane crash in Dubrovnik in 1996, will be co-hosted by the US Embassy in Croatia, the Office of the President of Croatia and the Croatian Employers' Association (HUP).
The aim of the "The Brown Forum: U.S. & Southeast European Trade and Investment" is to deepen and continue the mission of promotion of peace and progress in the region through economy, which Ron Brown had tried to achieve with his arrival in 1996, the US Deputy Ambassador to Croatia, Hoyt Yee, said at a news conference in Zagreb on Monday.
Mario Nobilo of the Croatian Foreign Ministry told the news conference that the time for holding the Brown Forum was perfect as Croatia was looking forward to the completion of its EU accession negotiations and many investors would like to position themselves in the country before its entry into the European Union.
Tens of companies from the USA, Croatia and southeastern Europe are expected to attend the forum.
