ZAGREB, March 7
(Hina) - Commenting on a recent police interview
with the incumbent and wartime director of the Vukovar hospital, Vesna
Bosanac over alleged war crimes, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said
on Monday that indictments issued on the basis of confessions given
during torture in Serbian concentration camps were irrelevant, and
that the latest developments were the technical completion of those
prosecutions resulting in the withdrawal of charges against innocent
people.
"It is not good to try to misuse those developments for daily political purposes," Josipovic told reporters today in his office.
The president believes that the public recognises what is going on and that following a policy of reconciliation the relevant agencies are doing what is within their remit.
"I believe that at the end of this process all our soldiers and citizens who were unjustly and unlawfully accused of crimes will be cleared of every suspicion," he said.
