ZAGREB, June 29 (Hina) - When we assess that the time has come for
the government to intervene, the government will certainly do sot, Prime
Minister Ivo Sanader said in parliament during Question Time on Wednesday when
he was asked by MPs whether his cabinet would cut excise duties in case the
price of petrol exceeds eight kuna per litre. When the price of
lead-free petrol goes over eight kuna, the Government will certainly intervene,
PM Sanader said responding to questions of MPs about a promise he gave in
April about the government's readiness to intervene regarding the trends in the
price of petrol.
Sanader also said Croatia should brace itself for a higher increase in
oil prices on the world market, as it is not unrealistic for prices to rise to
80 or even 90 dollars per barrel, he explained.
