GLINA/GVOZD, June 21 (Hina) - Japanese Ambassador Kaname Ikeda andassociates on Tuesday visited Gvozd and Glina, two towns whichsustained extensive damage during the early 1990s war where, thanks toJapan's donations, the
infrastructure is being reconstructed andliving conditions getting back to normal.
GLINA/GVOZD, June 21 (Hina) - Japanese Ambassador Kaname Ikeda and
associates on Tuesday visited Gvozd and Glina, two towns which sustained
extensive damage during the early 1990s war where, thanks to Japan's donations,
the infrastructure is being reconstructed and living conditions getting back
to normal. Glina Mayor Marko Sremic thanked the ambassador for a
70,400-euro Japanese government donation.
Accompanied by representatives of local authorities, Ikeda visited the
nearby waterworks and talked with the local residents.
The ambassador said the Japanese government was helping nongovernmental
organisations, education institutions, bodies of local government and
self-government, and public institutions in Croatia, as well as in the
realisation of development programmes.
Ikeda and Gvozd municipal head Branko Ljubicic signed a contract on a
67,000-euro Japanese donation.
