Glavas said that on Saturday afternoon he witnessed a phone call in which Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks was pressuring a member of the Osijek County Assembly to leave his post and offering him a high post in the county leadership instead.
Glavas also claims that other councillors from his Independent List were being threatened and that one had been threatened even with murder.
HDZ and government spokesman Ratko Macek has resolutely dismissed Glavas's claims.
Glavas was expelled from the HDZ before the May 15 local elections for advocating the division of Croatia into regions, which the HDZ considers unconstitutional. His list won the most votes in the elections and, together with the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) and deputies from some other parties who supported it, now makes the majority in the Osijek County Assembly and the City Council.
