Skare-Ozbolt said Croatia was still dealing with ideological rifts instead of economic issues. She underlined the ruling party and the opposition needed to reach a consensus on the adoption of a national economic development strategy, as well as on the issue of the external and internal debts.
Skare-Ozbolt said the DC would move a new bill on local elections, and new models for the election of local leaders and the next parliamentary elections. She added that a country where elections were held every few months could not be stable and advocated determining elections' dates.
Regarding Croatia's admission to the European Union, Skare-Ozbolt said the economy and the rule of law should be consolidated. She added there should be no illusions that admission to the EU would solve all Croatia's problems.
She also said the recent rejection of the European Constitution in France and the Netherlands would not have an adverse effect on Croatia's way to the EU.
