"We consider the continuing accusations against Croatian reporters pressure on media freedoms and deprivation of the public of the right to full and objective information," the union said in a statement.
"The entire democratic world has recently welcomed the confirmation of the identity of a secret agent known as 'The Deep Throat', the famous source of two reporters whose articles toppled the US president, while the Hague tribunal is summonsing journalists for revealing the identity of a protected witness who shortly after (his testimony) became Croatian president."
In December 2000, Jovic, at the time the editor-in-chief of "Slobodna Dalmacija", revealed in the interest of the public the identity of a protected witness, who before his testimony was published had stated that he had nothing against the transcripts of the testimony being published, reads the union statement.
