"Mr. Mesic is right. There was no apology," Belgrade-based "Danas" daily of Tuesday quoted Draskovic as saying.
He also expressed regret that "some media in the country are acting irresponsibly and disseminating untruths, provoking what nobody in Serbia and Montenegro or Croatia wants - misunderstandings".
"We must have the best possible relations with Croatia. We are going towards Europe together, some will arrive sooner, some later, but we are going together," Draskovic said.
The Office of the Croatian President last Sunday dismissed an article in Belgrade-based "Glas javnosti" daily saying that in a recent phone conversation with Draskovic Mesic had apologised for having criticised him and a recent Chetnik gathering at Ravna Gora in Serbia.
Commenting on the article, President Mesic reiterated that attempts to revise historical facts and depict Chetniks as anti-fascists were unacceptable, Mesic's office said in a statement that was also carried by the Belgrade media on Monday.
