"We are working on preparing the sufficient number of active military staff to be completely ready by 2006 to take over functions in the joint defence, Roncevic told reporters in Zagreb on Saturday during a ceremony marking Armed Forces' Day (May 28).
The upgrading of weapons and military equipment is a technical issue and a matter of finance and we place emphasis on preparations of our officers in which we have good results, the Croatian minister said.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the situation in the military, adding that great headway had been made in the modernisation of the army in 2004.
