VOA quoted diplomatic sources in EU president Luxembourg as saying that no significant progress had been made in Zagreb's cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal, and that the ad hoc group evaluating the cooperation would not meet because there was no need for it.
The decision on starting membership talks with Croatia will depend on the report by the tribunal's Chief Prosecutor Carla del Ponte to the UN Security Council, the radio said.
If the prosecutor gives the green light, it will not take long for the EU ministers to approve the start of accession talks with Croatia, VOA said.
VOA also quoted British officials as saying that, as far as they were concerned, if the Hague tribunal gave a positive opinion, talks with Croatia could start immediately.
