SARAJEVO, April 28 (Hina) - Twenty thousand citizens of
Bosnia-Herzegovina have signed a petition against the departure of the current
chairman of Bosnia-Herzegovina's collective presidency, Borislav Paravac, for
Moscow, where he should attend ceremonies in tribute to the 60th anniversary of
the victory over fascism, the youth forum of the Social Democratic Party (SDP)
in Bosnia-Herzegovina said in a statement on Thursday. The
organisers of the petition believe that it is disgraceful that Paravac, who
takes pride in the fact that his father was a Chetnik during the Second World
War, will represent Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Moscow celebrations on 9 May.
Paravac's inclusion in the Bosnian state delegation was the reason why
representatives of WW II Partisan veterans refused to be in the delegation.
Paravac, the Serb member in the three-man presidency, declined to
comment on attempts to prevent him from travelling to Moscow, but his advisor
Drago Vukovic labelled the SDP youth action as a campaign against the Serb
people.
During the Second World War, Chetnik units became notorious for crimes
against non-Serb people in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
