ZAGREB, April 27 (Hina) - Croatian President on Wednesday received thepresidents of the Supreme Courts of the Czech Republic, Hungary,Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia -- the participants in the 6thmeeting of the Permanent
Conference of the Supreme Court Presidentsfrom Central Europe which is being held in Zagreb on April 26-29.
ZAGREB, April 27 (Hina) - Croatian President on Wednesday received
the presidents of the Supreme Courts of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland,
Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia -- the participants in the 6th meeting of the
Permanent Conference of the Supreme Court Presidents from Central Europe which
is being held in Zagreb on April 26-29. Mesic hailed cooperation
within regional and European frameworks and stressed that the rule of law was a
crucial area in all countries in transition, but also a condition for the
functioning of democracy, said a statement issued by the President's Office.
The president of the Hungarian Supreme Court, Lech Gardocki, expressed
his country's support to Croatia's joining the EU, while the president of the
Czech Supreme Court, Iva Brozova, stressed that illegal conduct of judges
should not be used by politicians because those mistakes exist in democratic
states.
