The HDZ National Council yesterday ousted Glavas from the ruling party over his initiative for regionalisation, the Croatian Democratic Assembly of Slavonia and Baranja.
Sanader said yesterday the initiative's draft political platform was contrary to the HDZ policy as well as to the Constitution.
Also ousted from the HDZ due to involvement with Glavas's initiative were members of Parliament Vladimir Sisljagic and Ivan Drmic. The three were HDZ officials in Osijek-Baranja County.
Yesterday the government relieved Mate Radeljic of his duties as Assistant Minister of Family and War Veterans' Affairs and Inter-generational Solidarity due to activities contrary to the government's policy and programme, an official press release said, although unofficial sources said he was replaced due to involvement with Glavas's initiative.
Today, the Interior Ministry relieved Osijek-Baranja County Police Department chief Vlado Tulicic "over inappropriate engagement in political initiatives, which is contrary to the principles of depoliticising the police," read a press release.
The HDZ yesterday appointed Tomislav Ivic party commissioner for Osijek-Baranja County to set up a commission that would compile lists of candidates for local elections in May.
In his letter, Glavas spoke dismissively of Ivic.
