On behalf of the IDS-SDP coalition the two parties concluded ahead of the local elections, Denis Martincic of the SDP and Valter Drandic of the IDS today pledged to respect the acquired rights of Pula Italians if their parties won the local polls, scheduled for 15 May.
They also promised that they would ensure the post of Deputy Mayor and of a vice-chairman of the city council for representatives of the Italian minority as well as more funds for this ethnic community.
The current mayor of Pula is Luciano Delbianco of the Istrian Democratic Forum (IDF). Recently his party together with the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), the Liberal Party (LS) and a list of independent candidates formed another coalition to run in the forthcoming municipal elections.
Radin on Saturday criticised the incumbent authorities for lack of respect for the ethnic Italian community's rights.
