US General Steven Schook.
In an interview with Wednesday's Dnevni Avaz, Schook said the money, if it was not stolen, would be spent for the benefit of Bosnia's citizens, i.e. go for the wages of physicians, teachers and other budgetary beneficiaries.
The general did not go into detail concerning the network harbouring Karadzic and the other fugitives, but did say that there were people in the Bosnian Serb entity's interior ministry and military structures helping war crimes indictees. He added that must stop.
Schook said the measures the Bosnian Serb police were ready to take encouraged him in the belief that Karadzic and Ratko Mladic might end up in The Hague by the end of the year.
