Transparency International urges consensus on conflict of interest law

ZAGREB, Feb 9 (Hina) - Transparency International Croatia (TIH) has called for adopting new conflict of interest legislation by consensus or by a two-third majority vote to make it impossible to make changes to the make-up of the Conflict of Interest Commission every time a new government is elected.

The draft law on conflict of interest rules, which will be on the parliament's agenda soon, is a step forward, TIH president Nikola Krstic said at a news conference on Wednesday, applauding the extension of the list of office-holders covered by the draft law and more precise regulation of penalties.

TIH member Zorislav Antun Petrovic welcomed the proposed amendments to the bill on the financing of political activities.
