The daily reported that it was believed that the explosive device planted under a car owned by a university professor from Osijek on December 18 had been most likely planted there by mistake, because the car's registration plates differed from those on a local judge's car by only one digit, which was why the judge was given police protection.
Police spokeswoman Edita Roterbauer said the police department could not comment on the newspaper article because the investigation was under way.
So far, the police have not discovered the perpetrator or established the motive for the planting of the explosive device, Roterbauer said.
