The ethics commission on Wednesday evening discussed a request by the HRT management to investigate if the three journalists had observed professional standards when they broadcast a video recording showing a speech by President Stjepan Mesic to Croatian emigrants in the early 1990s, in which he also spoke about the establishment of the Independent State of Croatia on 10 April 1941 and the situation after 1945, when Croatia became part of the victorious anti-fascist coalition.
The ethics commission concluded that the three editors did not breach the HRT's code of ethics under which information must be correct, true, objective, complete, and verified.
The commission also believes that the three editors also did not breach the article referring to the technical preparation of the news, which regulates how information published on television should look like.
"Based on the commission's opinion, the general director decided that he would not initiate any procedure against the three editors," spokesman Roemer said.
