In a brief address to the parliament at noon, Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks said that domestic violence against women was one of the most pervasive forms of human rights violations.
He urged relevant state institutions to consistently implement legal regulations, charters and conventions on the prevention of domestic violence against women.
Seks announced that the Croatian parliament would organise a number of debates on the efficiency of measures for the prevention of violence against women and their improvement, as part of a Europe-wide campaign to last until Women's Day, March 8, 2008.
