The objections should be treated as plus points, a warning that we should not become complacent and that we should step up reforms and efforts to adopt and implement European legislation, Mesic said on the margins of a Croatian-Cypriot business forum in the Croatian capital.
He went on to say that the adoption of laws was easy, but that their implementation was difficult. In negotiations with the European Union, however, everything depends on us, the President said.
Croatia has employed instruments in the struggle against corruption and I believe in the success of that struggle, Mesic said.
In the progress report which the EC will publish today, Croatia is urged to continue with the progress it has made so far and to accelerate reforms in key areas such as the judiciary, the public administration, the economy, and the fight against corruption.
