ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - The level of corruption is moderately high
and the corruption climate is relatively heavy, although people do not regard
corruption as a reason for serious concern, according to a survey conducted by
Prague-based market research agency GfK in 21 European countries in 2005. The survey, whose results were announced on Friday, covered the countries
of Central and Eastern Europe and, for the first time, some Western European
countries.
The 21 countries with a total of 470 million inhabitants were
represented by 22,050 respondents, or about 1,000 from each country, except
Russia, where the number of people interviewed was twice as high.
The survey shows that 92 per cent of Croats see their country as
corrupt and that nearly half of them regard bribery as something natural.
