The conference, entitled "Regional cooperation challenges 2007/2008", is a continuation of the process of transformation of Southeast Europe into an area of peace, security and economic prosperity, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, told a briefing at the ministry.
The conference will focus on the integration of Southeast European countries into the European Union. Some 150 guests from Southeast Europe, the European Union and international organisations and foundations are expected to attend.
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader will address the gathering on the subject of Croatia's role and responsibility in the region.
The conference will be the first in a series of major international conferences in the next seven or eight months, most of which will take place in Croatia as the current chair of the SEECP initiative.
The foreign ministers of Macedonia, Montenegro, and Romania have confirmed their attendance.
