"Istria is in Croatia what Vojvodina is in Serbia. They are multiethnic and multilingual regions whose behaviour helps their states to join the European Union," said Kostres.
He added that in this respect Croatia was far closer to the EU than Serbia, and that Vojvodina wished to be a bridge between Serbia and Europe.
Kostres also highlighted the official introduction of the Croatian language in Vojvodina.
Jakovcic said Istria's five-year cooperation with Vojvodina was most active in culture and the economy, with many Vojvodina companies exporting to Istria and vice versa.
Jakovcic announced that he, Kostres and the prime minister of Sarajevo Canton, Denis Zvizdic, would meet in Pula in mid-August. He said Istria, Vojvodina and Sarajevo Canton were three multiethnic regions which wished to be the sponsors of regional cooperation among their states.
