The event, which was held in the Kursalon in the Austrian capital, was organised by the Croatian-Burgenland cultural society, and folk dance troupes from Burgenland and Molise performed their programme.
The ball drew Croats from Croatia, Hungary, Italy and Slovakia apart from Austria.
Addressing the event, Austrian Defence Minister Norbert Darabos said he was one of the two ministers in the current government of Burgenland Croat descent and that he was happy to see the long tradition of this ball.
"The Burgenland Croats are an important link between Croatia and Austria and they make great contribution to promoting cultural and other forms of the bilateral relations between Croatia and Austria," said the charge d’affaires of the Croatian embassy in Vienna, Josip Spoljaric.
During the Turkish wars in the mid-1500s, Croats fled to Austria. Croats who settled in the Austrian state of Burgenland were given land-rights by the Austrian Crown.
