During the exercise, members of the National Guard of Minnesota and the Croatian Army's 3rd and 4th corps demonstrated the stopping and control of vehicles at a check point, the arrest of suspects, prevention of demonstrations and defence of a UN base and a supply convoy against attacks by paramilitary troops.
The exercise, which started on June 16, also included shooting from automatic rifles and pistols and several tactical and situation exercises.
The assistant commander of the National Guard of Minnesota, General Jon Trost, said that cooperation with the Croatian Army had started in 1995 and that it included a visit by a Croatian army platoon to Minnesota last year.
The commander of the Croatian Army, Lieutenant General Marijan Marekovic, said that Croatia's military institutions and units were undergoing reorganisation aimed at achieving NATO standards.
Croatian Armed Forces Deputy Chief-of-Staff, Lieutenant General Slavko Baric, said that operative procedures used in NATO member-countries were used in the exercise.
He added that the exercise was yet another proof that the Croatian armed forces were capable of responding to the challenges of the most complex missions in which they were participating, those of the United Nations.
