"He was extradited on Thursday afternoon and is now in the detention unit of the State Court in Sarajevo," State Court president Medzida Kreso was quoted as saying in the Friday issue of the Dnevni Avaz daily.
Zelenovic was handed over to the Bosnian authorities because Russia does not recognise the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague and does not cooperate with it directly, Kreso explained.
Since the accused is sought by the ICTY, the Bosnian court plans to transfer him to The Hague. Kreso, however, allowed for the possibility of the Hague tribunal deciding to refer the case to Bosnia, in which case Zelenovic might be put on trial in Sarajevo.
