"A discussion would be useful both to us and to them, and I can see no reason why this matter should not be discussed with pros and cons," Mesic told reporters during a visit to Bjelovar, about 80 kilometres east of Zagreb.
Asked to comment on a statement by Savo Strbac, head of Veritas, the Belgrade-based non-governmental organisation gathering documents on Croatian Serb casualties during the 1991-1995 war in Croatia, that after Branimir Glavas and Vladimir Seks, Mesic would be the next one to stand trial before the Hague tribunal, the President said he knew Strbac would like that to happen, but that that he could go to The Hague only as a prosecution witness at Strbac's trial.
Strbac held a senior position in the government of the former self-proclaimed Serb statelet in Croatia, whose leaders have been indicted and put on trial before the Hague tribunal.
