OSIJEK, June 5 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic has said
that he does not know if he is in disagreement with Prime Minister Ivo Sanader
over the construction of a bridge linking the Peljesac peninsula with the
mainland, as claimed by some media, but that he and the prime minister have
different positions on the matter. "I don't know if it can be called
a conflict, but our positions are obviously different," Mesic said in a
statement for the press after a session of the Osijek County Assembly.
Asked if Croatia had enough funds to finance both the Peljesac bridge
and development in Slavonia, Mesic said that one should look at balance sheets
to see if both projects were possible.
