ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - The United States Agency for International
Development on Thursday awarded Croatian nongovernmental organisations which
met the conditions of its invitation for the allocation of financial
assistance, approving a total 3.17 million kuna for the realisation of their
programmes. Awards were presented to 22 NGOs of the 65 which applied
for financial aid in four programmes. The awards were presented by USAID
Mission chief Wiliam Jeffers at Zagreb's Sheraton.
The funds were secured by the US government within the CroNGO programme
of assistance to Croatian NGOs which the Academy for Educational Development
has been implementing since early 2001.
The programme's aim is to assist civil society associations in Croatia,
and more than USD5 million has been allocated to date.
