KLAGENFURT/LJUBLJANA, June 7 (Hina) - The government of the
Austrian province of Carinthia adopted a resolution on Wednesday asking the
central government in Vienna to take necessary steps so as to prevent Slovenia
from building a second block of the nuclear power plant at Krsko, 80 kilometres
away from the Slovene-Austrian border. According to the Slovene
news agency STA, the Carinthian government also stressed that Krsko is situated
in a quake-prone area and that the issue of nuclear waste storage has not yet
been settled.
Slovene media have recently reported that Ljubljana is planning to
construct an additional block of the Krsko nuclear plant after 2020.
