In a final document, representatives of the member states underlined the need for further EU enlargement and called on accession candidate states to meet all the necessary demands and European standards.
The meeting was attended by deputy foreign ministers or other senior state officials from Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine, as well as representatives of 10 international organisations.
They welcomed what they described as the successful organisation of Sunday's referendum on Montenegro's independence, and called on all sides to respect this decision. They also encouraged Belgrade and Podgorica to launch dialogue so that an agreement on future steps could be reached.
