Malta strongly supports Croatia's joining the EU as soon as possible because it will benefit both Croatia and the Union, Azzopardi said after meeting the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy, Gordan Jandrokovic.
Azzopardi recalled that Malta, together with Austria, last year gave the strongest support to the launching of Croatia's EU membership talks.
He noted that efforts invested by Croatia's parliament and government into the country's EU membership bid reflected a high level of its readiness to join the bloc.
Relations between the two countries are friendly and we want to advance them through cooperation in the economy, notably tourism, said Jandrokovic, who thanked Azzopardi for his country's support.
The Maltese delegation also visited the Committee on European Integration. An agreement was reached for the staff of the two Croatian parliamentary committees to visit the Maltese Parliament.
