BELGRADE, April 5 (Hina) - The second round of negotiations on
Serbia and Montenegro's Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the
European Union, held in Belgrade on Wednesday, was successful, but the
continuation of the negotiations in May depends of full cooperation with the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, said the director
for the Western Balkans in the European Commission, Reinhardt Priebe. Priebe, who was at the helm of the negotiating team from Brussels, said the
second round of the negotiations was possible owing to the assessment of the
European Commission that Serbia and Montenegro made progress in cooperation
with the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague. He, however, stressed that the
country's cooperation would be assessed again at the end April.
Priebe said the conditions set by the European Commission had not
changes. The country must cooperate with the Hague tribunal, he said,
expressing hope the next assessment would be positive.
