ZAGREB/THE HAGUE, March 31 (Hina) - Bosnian Serb Milan Lukic on Friday pleaded not guilty at his additional appearance before the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague which charged him with war crimes against Bosniak civilians in the eastern Bosnian town of Visegrad in 1992-1994.

Lukic pleaded not guilty to all 21 counts of the amended indictment charging him with the persecution on the political, religious and racial grounds, killings, cruel treatment and other inhumane acts such as crimes against humanity and the violations of the laws and customs of war.

The 39-year old former police officers who led the Serb paramilitary unit is indicted for two particularly brutal crimes in which 135 Bosniak women, children and the elderly were burned alive or shot.

He was arrested in Buenos Aires on 8 August 2005. Argentina extradited him to the ICTY six months later, namely on 21 February 2006.

At his initial appearance, held on 28 February, Lukic pleaded not guilty.

The same indictment also charges Lukic's cousin Sredoje Lukic, who voluntarily surrendered to the Hague tribunal in September 2005, and Mitar Vasiljevic for whom a separate trial was held and who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for executing six detained Bosniaks in 1992.
