The task force was also entrusted with establishing rules for the implementation and supervision of projects, it was said at a government session on Tuesday.
Croatian government members, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and county prefects and mayors of county capitals agreed at a meeting last Friday that capital facilities in the health and education sectors be built according to the model of public-private partnership.
PM Sanader said then that the model would ensure much faster construction of schools, sports halls, health centres and homes for senior citizens, which would otherwise take 20-25 years.
Construction works will not be financed with budgetary funds, but with money from financial funds and banks, and facilities built this way will remain the property of local self-government units after 25 years, Sanader said.
The model is already being applied in some parts of Croatia, he said, adding that county prefects and mayors had given full support to the model which is being applied in Europe.
Science Minister Dragan Primorac said that construction costs according to the model of public-private partnership were 17 percent lower than traditional construction costs.
