Cardinal Puljic met the Croat member of the Bosnian Presidency, Ivo Miro Jovic, on Monday to discuss the current political situation in the country.
They supported a statement issued from a meeting of bishops in Mostar on 22 March, who said that "any division and manipulation" would be detrimental to the Croat people in Bosnia-Herzegovina, KTA said.
The statement from the Mostar meeting said that a political agreement on constitutional amendments, reached by seven Bosnian political parties, including the strongest Croat party, the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ B-H), was flawed and harmful to the Croats' interests. Opponents of the policies of the HDZ B-H later used the bishops' position as a key argument in their attacks on the proposed constitutional amendments.
According to KTA, Puljic and Jovic highlighted the need for a constant exchange of information with the aim of ensuring equal rights for all three constituent ethnic groups in Bosnia-Herzegovina -- the Bosniaks (Muslims), the Serbs and the Croats.
