BRUSSELS, March 16 (Hina) - Croatia has adjusted 95 percent of its legislation regulating the customs union chapter to the EU acquis communautaire as regards the part which can be adjusted before a candidate country's admission, the chief Croatian negotiator for this chapter, Martina Dalic, said in Brussels on Thursday.

It is not possible for technical reasons to adopt a part of the acquis communautaire before admission into the EU, for instance agreements which the European Union (EU) has with third countries, as the Union is not a party to such agreements, Dalic explained in Brussels where Croatia and European Commission officials were finishing a two-day bilateral meeting as part of the screening of Croatia's customs administration legislation.

The Commission will within next four to six months draw up a report on this screening, which will then be sent to EU member states and will serve as a basis for the EU common negotiating position on this topic.
