At the event, Croatian politicians and scholars spoke about the importance of the Constitution for further enlargement of the European bloc.
When the Constitution enters into effect after all EU member-states ratify it, all existent European agreements and treaties will go out of effect, including the Nice Treaty which limits the number of EU member states to 27. In order to ensure a new wave of the enlargement, if the Constitution does not go in force in the meantime, the existent treaties will have to be amended which is a long-lasting process, said Davorin Rudolf, one of the editors of the Croatian edition.
The edition was prepared according to a working translation of the EU constitution which the Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry. The entire job involved scholars and professors from Zagreb and Split.
