The collection of poems written by 65 Serb poets in the last decades of the 20th century was published by the Croatian Society of Writers (HDP). The collection titled 'Nebolomstvo' drew the attention of the Croatian daily 'Vecernji List' which on Tuesday ran an article saying that the book contains poems by Gojko Djogo, Rajko Nogo and Matija Beckovic, outspoken Serb nationalists, and that Djogo is a close friend of indicted war criminal Radovan Karadzic.
According to the daily, following the recommendation of the council, the Croatian Ministry of Culture allocated 15,000 kuna to co-finance the publication of the book.
The ministry believes that this is a gross omission made by the Council for Books and Publishing, and primarily by the publisher, i.e the HDP association and its chairman Velimir Viskovic, who is also on the board of the Council, the spokeswoman for the ministry, Suncana Glavak, said on Tuesday.
Culture Minister Biskupic convened an urgent session of the Council on Tuesday morning, when it was explained that the author of the book, Bojana Stojanovic-Pantovic failed to list names of all the selected poets in documents which were considered before the ministry was asked to provide funds for the publication.
