The ship, named after the port of Makhachkala in Dagestan on the eastern side of the Caspian Sea, was commissioned by the "Maritime Investment & Development" company from the Russian Federation.
Uljanik will build a total of four ships named after the capital of Dagestan for the same company.
The newly-built vessel is 154 metre long and 17 metre wide, with the highest speed of 14 knots.
The tanker, which will be able to transport 52 wagons, is part of the modernised Russian fleet for transport of oil, petroleum products and propane gas on the Caspian Sea.
Uljanik is currently the only shipbuilding yard to be able to build this kind of ships.
