SARAJEVO, Feb 17 (Hina) - Bosnia-Herzegovina has banned imports of
livestock, frozen meat and meat products from Croatia after reports of a mad
cow disease case in eastern Croatia, the Bosnian Veterinary Office confirmed on
Friday. The head of the Office, Jozo Baric, said at an emergency
press conference in Sarajevo that the ban was a temporary measure until the
final results of tests on cow tissue came from London.
The ban applies for now only to livestock older than 30 months. No
restrictions were imposed on milk and dairy imports because it is believed that
the disease cannot be transmitted that way.
