Croatian PM meets Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States

Autor: mses
ZAGREB, Oct 20 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Wednesday received the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States, Monsignor Dominique Mamberti, the government's public relations office reported.

According to a press release, Kosor reiterated her invitation to Pope Benedict XVI to visit Croatia. During her visit to the Vatican this March, she also invited the pontiff to come to Croatia.

The premier thanked the Holy See for support it has been giving to Croatia since the country's independence.

She also thanked for the pope's support to efforts by Croatia and Slovenia to reach an arbitration border agreement.

Kosor reiterated that Croatia supported its neighbours' Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

She pointed out Croatia's commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a singe country with three constituent peoples and with Croats enjoying equal rights as the other two constituent peoples.

Croatia has its place in the family of European nations, Monsignor Mamberti said.

Joining the EU should be viewed as joining a community of shared values which is why the Catholic Church fully supports the integration processes which refer to peace and unity, he said.

Monsignor Mamberti said he fully agreed with the Croatian Prime Minister's position on Bosnia and Herzegovina and pointed to the Vatican's support to that country, the press release reads.
