According to unofficial reports, arrested were Goran Vukasovic, a consultant in the Brodosplit shipbuilding company, Domagoj Klaric, a member of the Brodosplit management board, Slaven Zuzul, the owner of the Skladgradnja company, and Josip Poljak, the financial director of Skladgradnja.
The police declined to confirm their identity.
The local media speculate that the four men are suspected of causing financial damage to Brodosplit and failure to pay taxes in 2005 and 2006. Skladgradnja has been Brodosplit's sub-contractor for years.
The suspects were to be brought before an investigating judge in the Split County Court later in the day.
