Sea and Tourism Minister Bozidar Kalmeta told the commission, that convened in the northern Adriatic resort of Rovinj, that the government's plans were to see that Croatia would become one of the top Mediterranean destinations and that it would become "a four-star destination".
For this purpose, a total of 5.83 billion kuna are to be invested in preparations for the coming tourist season. Of this amount, tourist companies are expected to invest 3.2 billion kuna, units of local government 2.5 billion kuna, while local offices of the Croatian National Tourist Board should ensure 129 million kuna.
The commission reiterated that the last tourist season was extremely successful with almost 10 million arrivals of guests and their 51 million overnight stays, which was by six and 7.5 percent respectively more than in 2004.
