The Ministry of Finance explained that any reopening of proceedings against Ljubljanska Banka would have "irreparable consequences" and that a solution to the problem of so-called "old foreign currency savings" should be sought through negotiation with the assistance of the Basel-based Bank for International Settlements, as stipulated in a succession agreement signed by all former Yugoslav republics in 2001.
The Slovene parliament is expected to discuss the bill under fast-track procedure.
