Such a proposal would certainly not mean the creation of a new Yugoslavia but could considerably slow down Croatia on the road to the European Union, she said.
The DC supports bilateral economic cooperation with all neighbouring countries as well as cooperation within the Central European Free Trade Agreement, but nothing more than that, Skare-Ozbolt said commenting on a European Commission proposal to create a Western Balkan regional free trade zone.
Commenting on the defence of Croatian generals indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Skare-Ozbolt, who is the minister of justice, said that all generals should have equal defence status.
She underlined that financing the defence was a problem because the tribunal wants the accused to participate.
Skare-Ozbolt also said that her ministry has been preparing for the past 18 months documents expected to refute parts of indictments alleging the existence of a joint criminal enterprise during the 1990s war.
Speaking of preparations to join the EU, she recalled the DC's motion to set up a Croatia Fund which would include all state-owned real estate. As for private property, cities and municipalities would be entitled to pre-emptive buying.
