ZAGREB, Jan 1 (Hina) - Croatian Family Affairs' Minister Jadranka Kosorvisited the 'Petrova' gynaecology hospital in Zagreb and gave presentsto new born babies and their mothers on Sunday, the first day of thenew year.

Kosor visited the 'Petrova' gynaecology hospital in Zagreb and gave presents to
new born babies and their mothers on Sunday, the first day of the new
year. On this occasion she commented on the government's family
planning policy.
According to the minister, the policy resulted in the birth of 639 more
babies in 2004 than in 2003.
In 2005 which also saw a rise in the country's birth-rate, 1.1 billion
kuna were ensured from the budgetary funds for maternity benefits. The amount
will increase by 85 million kuna this year, Kosor said.
